Confidence in Institutions
Gallup has released its annual survey on confidence in institutions. As we note in our chapter on foreign policy and national security (pp. 597-598), the military has great prestige, and the poll confirms that it still commands more confidence than other institutions on the list. Other notable findings are that confidence in the presidency has plunged 15 percent in the past year and that confidence in Congress is at just 11 percent, its lowest point ever.
