Religious Makeup of the Parties

Many posts here have dealt with religion and politics. The Pew Research Center has a new report showing that the number of Americans unaffiliated with any religion is on the rise.  The report also contains fascinating data on the religious makeup of the parties.

• Unaffiliated people make up just under a quarter of Democrats, but barely a tenth of Republicans.
• White evangelicals are a third of Republicans, less than a tenth of Democrats.
